Capcom just released their recent Nintendo 3DS title Monster Hunter Stories on iOS and Android in Japan. Monster Hunter Stories is a spinoff from the mainline Monster Hunter franchise. Instead of playing as a hunter, you play as a rider here and the game is a turn based RPG that has been developed by Marvelous. The iOS platform isn’t a stranger to Monster Hunter because Capcom ported Monster Hunter Freedom Unite [$14.99] a while ago but this is a recent title that has made its way to both iOS and Android. It is available for 1900 Yen in Japan right now. Watch the trailer for it below:
This is interesting for a couple of reasons. For one, it only released in English speaking regions in September this year and was localized and published by Nintendo. This might cause some trouble for a possible English release on mobile platforms because Nintendo handled the localization and we’ve seen something similar happen with Dragon Quest VII that is still Japanese only. Nevertheless, I’m a big fan of Monster Hunter Stories and played a lot of it on 3DS when it released. If this does ever get an English release, I’ll be there day one. Check out the Japanese website for the iOS and Android version here. The website lists the supported versions and devices for both iOS and Android and as with Capcom tradition, iOS 11.2 isn’t mentioned and the highest supported iOS version is 11.0.3 The official English website for the Nintendo 3DS game with information available in English can be viewed here. If you do have a Japanese App Store account, check out Monster Hunter Stories here. The Google Play listing can be viewed here. We will be keeping an eye out on this to see if it ever does get an official English release.
