Is Dad already an old pro on the barbecue? Do you think he might like to try something new in the kitchen? If so, then how about getting him his own pasta maker? The Philips Compact Pasta and Noodle Maker is a funky little gadget that doesn’t take up much room on the countertop and allows Dad to easily create his own homemade pasta or noodles in as much time as it takes for him to watch a TED talk.
And it’s easier to make pasta or noodles than he might think, especially since the maker is easy to use and comes with a recipe book that will give him tips and tricks to make great pasta. Even better it also includes ideas for creating different pastas, some maybe he’s never heard of, like ones that contain beet juice, carrot juice or even spinach.
Once all the ingredients are assembled, the pasta maker will automatically mix, knead and extrude the pasta. To make sure the pasta comes out just right, it has a long kneading tube and interesting looking stirring bar, designed to ensure the flour and liquids are mixed evenly and consistently, producing a smooth, even and bouncy dough.
Once Dad gets the hang of the machine, he’ll be able to make 450 grams or about one pound of fresh pasta in just 18 minutes.
It comes with three shaping discs so you can make three types of creations, namely spaghetti, penne and fettuccine. When he’s not using the blades, they can safely be stored away right inside the integrated storage drawer along with the power cord. The package also includes a measuring cup and a cleaning tool to get ready for the next batch of pasta.
The Philips Compact Pasta & Noodle Maker (Model HR2371/05) is part of the Philips Viva Collection and makes for a nice Father’s Day gift. It retails for $279.99 and available on Amazon or at The Bay.
